I think it is important for businesses to make a positive contribution to their local communities. So running my own company gives me the opportunity to put my money where my mouth is.
Here is what I do:
- I allocate two days a month to working free of charge with local voluntary and community organisations who would otherwise not be able to afford my help.
- I donate 10% of my pre-tax profits to my chosen charity or charities of the year and undertake other fundraising activities for those charities whenever I can.
- I write a wide range of articles and publications and make them freely available via this website to any individual or organisation that can benefit from them.
- I try to keep my carbon footprint down by using technology rather than travel. And when I need to go somewhere, I use public transport where possible.
In 2012, I was pleased to support Children’s Hospice South West and Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary, which both do valuable work in my local community. You can read more about these charities and how I supported them here.
If you are a voluntary or community organisation in the Bristol area and you think that I might be able to help you, then please feel free to get in touch. I would be more than happy to provide any assistance that I can.
